The Judicial Selection Committee, pursuant to the By-Laws of the Arlington County Bar Association and by request of the Arlington delegation to the General Assembly, hereby gives Notice of the Nominating Meeting for a judicial vacancy that will occur as a result of Judge Alper's retirement from the Circuit Court of the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit, effective on May 31, 2012.

Interested candidates must submit seven copies of a completed questionnaire to Bar Association Executive Director Felix Oliver at the Bar Association office by no later than 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2011. 

Candidates who previously applied for the Circuit Court vacancy earlier this year need not re-apply.  However, if they choose not to be considered for this new vacancy, they should provide a statement in writing to that effect to Felix Oliver.  Candidates who previously applied for the vacancy on the General District Court who are now interested in applying for the Circuit Court vacancy need not provide a new set of applications, but they must indicate their intent to also apply for the Circuit Court vacancy in a written statement submitted to Felix Oliver by the 4:00 p.m. 12/22/11 deadline. 

The Judicial Nominating Meeting will be held on January 10, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. in the Walter T. McCarthy Law Library.  Voting by the Association shall occur on January 11 & 12, 2012 in the Association office from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day. Results of the Bar vote shall be posted in the Association office and forwarded to the Arlington delegation on or before January 13, 2012.
